After seeing one of my all-time favorite bloggers, Jack Humphrey of Friday Traffic Report, doing it — I knew if Jack was doing it, there had to be something related to traffic happening. What is it? Well, it’s an automated weekly digest post of all a user’s tweets for a specified period of time. You can accomplish this using a tool like Twitter Tools for Wordpress plugin.
Sure enough, after testing it for about a month on several of my other blogs, I discovered why Jack was doing it — or at least why I will be doing it
Here’s what happened in that short time.
- I recieved more traffic to additional posts on my blog, from each digest post — where my latest blog posts tweets were published along with all my other tweets. People are coming to my digest posts and digging deeper into my blog.
- On the tweets where I used a tracking service like BudUrl, I found that people were finding great resources on my digest posts and clicking through to them — sharing a ton of traffic with my favorite bloggers (I’m sure they like that.)
- On a page by page basis, my digest posts are #3 as far as getting new subscribers for my blog. In other words, my digest posts are the 3rd largest subscriber catcher for me than any other posts I have on the blog. That’s powerful.
- I haven’t investigated yet, but I’m sure there’s some link value there… Jack is super sharp at recognizing even the smallest link building opportunities

Twitter Tools Wordpress Plugin
It’s super easy to set-up and makes creating a Twitter digest post (daily, weekly, or whatever) very easy.
Download Twitter Tools, upload to your plugins folder, activate on your plugin page and then just set your settings.
I’d suggest a weekly digest setting, like above… it creates a very long post, but publishes in a non-intrusive way for your readers who are not interested in going through it all. For your readers who do dig in, it’s a great way to share with them your Twitter activity and let them dig deeper into what you share on Twitter.
