TweetDeck Integrates Facebook Connect (Beta)

by Maria Reyes-McDavis

TweetDeck, my all-time favorite Twitter tool, has finally added Facebook integration – albeit in the very Beta stage.

This release is not being pushed out to everyone right now since it is still being tested. Do feel free to install it directly from http://tweetdeck.com/beta/TweetDeck_0_24_1.air but be aware this is very beta software and is at your own risk. If you are not comfortable with this then please wait for the next major release where this functionality will be rolled up and better tested.

You simply download the latest version (link given in the post about the release), grant TweetDeck permission and details for Facebook and you’ve got a snazzy new column to see the latest and greatest updates from your connections – just like with Twitter.

A Word of Caution

If you’re not into Beta, don’t upgrade – it’s not that significant. You’ll likely enjoy infrequent, bothersome lockups or nothing at all. So far so good on my installation…

Also, be aware everytime you post in TweetDeck you’re also updating Facebook. If you’re going to test it out and you have other means for auto-updating your Facebook profile (like Ping.fm) you need to remove those, so you are not double updating :-)

I’ll be sure to let ya know when it’s in full use!

… looking forward to connecting with you!

Maria :-)
