How to use your new SEO tools for Firefox

… Okay, dokay, so we’ve covered the only SEO tools you’ll need for your Firefox browser. What does it all mean and how will these plugins help you? We’re covering the many ways solopreneurs and other online entrepreneurs might use SEO Quake, SEO for Firefox, and KGen for Firefox all this week.
SEO Quake
SEO Quake is good for newbies and oldies in the online marketing game. Even if you’re a newbie, understanding the dynamics of SEO and how it plays into your long-term online marketing strategy is important. It’s well worth learning - SEO Quake can help you learn and grow in your SEO understanding.
There are two components of SEO Quake, both have become valuable tools that the Diva team uses on a daily, sometimes hourly basis. How? Well, as a Firefox plugin, SEO Quake allows us to use these valuable tools and information sets on the fly, integrated into things we already to all day every day.
The first component is the SEO Sidebar. SeoBar can be described as an additional toolbar, which shows the values of selected parameters for the page currently opened in the browser window. Set of parameters shown by SeoBar is fully customizable by user.
Every page you view, using SEO Quake, will show SEO parameters and information, that is fully customizable by you. General set of parameters consists of such parameters as Google PR (Google PageRank of current page), Google Index (Number of indexed pages. Google version), Google link (Number of links, pointed to the current page. Google version (Except links from concerned domain)), similar parameters for many other search engines (Yahoo, MNS, Yandex, Rambler, Baidu) and some other miscellaneous parameters.
If all you do as a solopreneur is stick with viewing the general parameters already set-up at install — then you’re way ahead of the game with most of your competition. Do you really have time to do all this? Yes, you do. The plugin allows you to see valuable SEO related information on the fly, save it, and even track progress. Why do I need to look at this information? You can customize all parameters that you want SEO Quake to show…
- Google PageRank - A definite hot topic for SEO professionals, does it really matter. The answer is yes and no. Yes, it matters, because it’s ultimately the “ranking” of your trust within the online community as measured by links coming into your site from other “authority” sites (and other factors). The theory here is that the higher your ranking the more “trustworthy” the site and it’s content is. With SEO Quake, you’ll be able to understand your PageRank in comparison to your competition and those that you want to connect with online.
- Google Indexed Pages — Yes, this matters. You need and should want to know how many of your sites’ and your competitors sites are indexed in Google. Why? As a solopreneur, you’ll be able to gauge your progress in Google and relative to your competition. While the number of indexed pages may not be your focus, it can give you a good gauge of how Google is treating your site.
- Google Links — This tells you how many links are coming into the current page (except those linked from within the site). Again, like the rest of this, its a good gauge of how your search engine marketing and link strategies are working. Quality links coming into your website is important, tons of information can be inferred from this.
- Google Search Information — And, for the Diva team, one of the most important aspects of SEO Quake is the additional parameters inserted automatically into Google search results. When you’re comparing your results with other within the search listings themselves, you get a pretty good snap shot of where those ranked sites are on all SEO parameters that you might be considering.
The cool thing about SEO Quake is its customization features. As you progress in your SEO knowledge and strategies, you can fully customize the parameters that show up.
Keyword Density
This part of the parameters of SEO Quake is unbelievably helpful for online marketers and solopreneurs alike. Understand what your competition is doing, research keywords, and content ideas can all come from this information. You’ll get a complete list of the keywords used for that specific page, how often the keywords are used, and more…
You can even set SEO Quake to put a line through no-follow and no-index links…
My suggestion, is to simply install SEO Quake, and review the information that it gives you by default. You’ll gain a good understanding of how the different factors affect SEO, rankings, your competition, and your online marketing strategies. Like I said before, if that’s all you do - you’re definitely on your way to being one step ahead of your competition.
