Doing Social Media Marketing Right with Nancy Marmolejo

If you’ve read this blog for any amount of time, you know I’m a huge fan of Nancy Marmolejo of Viva Visibility.  This diva has taken social networking far beyond just setting up profiles and has mastered the art of actually building business from using social networking to a whole new level.  Her insight and innovation, she claims by accident and curiosity, is truly amazing.  Whether you’re a blogger, small business, solopreneur, or professional internet marketer — Nancy’s insight into using social networking as a key part of your social media strategies is brilliant and definitely worth the time to pay attention to.  (If you know the Diva you know I don’t say that lightly!)

Doing Social Media Marketing Right with Nancy Marmolejo

The Viva Visibility Interview

In this interview, Nancy Marmolejo talks about a super, duper easy way she uses social networking, tied with Twitter and her blog (VivaVisibilityBlog.com) to leverage the power of truly social content.  It’s not the what she’s using, because by now, we’re all using these tools — friends, it’s the way she’s using them.  It’s about her creativity in drawing in her audience, without a marketing pitch.  I’ve watched her presense online unfold the last year and can say, there aren’t too many doing the social media thing better than her.

After you listen to the interview, check out the links below to see what she was talking about.  Then think creatively for yourself.  In order to stand out from the noise, you’ve got to step above the norm and really reach out to draw YOUR audience in.  She’s one of the few doin it well.

Draw Your Audience In By Standing Out From The Noise

Part of successfully using social media marketing online, is the art of being able to clearly stand out from the crowd.  It’s about being a leader in a tribe, as Seth Godin would say — not just a member of a crowd.  (Read the book, by the way, it will change your entire social media marketing strategies.)

You can’t do this by simply being a member of a crowd and shouting.

You’re going to have to really stand out and lead your audience, with creative strategies that define you as a leader worth following.  Part of what Nancy does so well is set that “tribal leader” tone with her audience.  She understands very important aspects of social marketing that most so-called experts can’t seem to grasp.

Using Social Networking, Twitter, and Blogging

One of the strategies that Nancy discussed, involved the leveraging the power of social networking, Twitter, and blogging to engage her audience at a level that many experts can not achieve.  Nancy understands, social media marketing goes far beyond just having “conversations” online.  It’s about really connecting with your audience at a level that defines your relationship with them past the usual noise.

Check out the following posts from Nancy, referenced in the interview and you’ll see some of the magic.  Then I challenge you to think creatively about your use of social media and how you too, can set yourself apart from the crowd by leveraging your favorite social media tools.

Thanks for the great information! What I liked best was the distinction made between marketing on twitter, which is more low key, more about the relationship, versus the ’sales page’ type of marketing. Will be working on keepin’ it real!

I agree Steve, Nancy really has it down. I only wish more online marketers would get that, many ruin the fun for the rest of us :-) Thanks for stopping by!
