Managing your social media connections and the sheer volume of information that floods sites like Twitter and Facebook can be a challenge. This fact is especially true once you start adding multiple networks to the equation. We use HootSuite to not only tame the information beast of Twitter but to also manage our Facebook pages, LinkedIn, and other networks through Ping.Fm. Hootsuite not only helps us manage our networks more efficiently, but we’re also able to be “human” and build relationships better while still managing the flood of information more effectively. Hootsuite is definitely a great tool to look at for small businesses, non-profits, and bloggers.
Don’t take my word for it, Hootsuite also won Mashable’s 2009 Best Twitter Application Award
Why HootSuite Rocks Twitter and Beyond
Hootsuite lets you manage multiple accounts, across different networks. You can easily manage multiple Twitter accounts, Facebook profiles, Fan Pages, LinkedIn, and Ping.fm from one easy interface.
Hootsuite is organized by tabs and columns, allowing you to manage information and people. We use tabs to organize people, niches/topics and activities and use columns to filter the massive stream of information in each tab. How you use tabs and columns will depend on how you’re using Twitter and the other social networks.

Hootsuite is a great online reputation management tool. You can use columns for Twitter lists, keyword searches, hashtags, and more to stay on top of everything your business needs to know.
You can easily schedule updates in advance. Although we rarely recommend this, it is a handy dandy feature to use when you are in a marketing/launch cycle.
Updating and tracking your updates is incredibly easy. You can shorten your URLs, send pic and media files and manage what accounts you update on the fly.
Publish your blog across multiple networks. Using the RSS/Atom feed features you can easily share your blog content (and any content) across multiple networks with some dandy settings too.
Stats, stats, and more stats. Hootsuite shows you clicks on links by specified time frames, top referrer sites, and your most popular updates by number of clicks.
