It’s simple, you CAN actually learn some great lessons from the big guys in online brand and reputation management — and as a solopreneur selling or building expert status, this is important! Very important. Your reputation, brand, and visibility will move at light speed when you start to leverage the power of social media and other new media marketing avenues. I had not really heard of or worried about reputation management until about a year ago. It is definately important for the reasons you discussed. What opened my eyes was the stretch of comments that somebody made over 2 months using the name of a colleague of mine. It was not pretty and took time to recover from.

I have a colleague with the same experience. Online reputation management is important at all levels of business, whether the solopreneur or the corporation :-)
