Firefox Tab Groups Add-On has been my lifeline in the mess of social media and online marketing. There are only so many tabs you can have open. When you’ve reached the viewable limit, not keeping your tabs organized can cost you more time than you’d imagine. In these days, any timesaver is a sanity keeper in my mind. Time and organization are the main reasons I’m absolutely in love with the Firefox Add-On Tab Groups.
Firefox Tab Groups
Tabs are an insanely cool tool in the Firefox browser. Remember the days of early IE when you could only open a new window? So glad those times are over. Unless your marketing online and if you’re like me, you find yourself with a gazillion open tabs. Time-sucking chaos. Not any more. I’ve discovered a Firefox Add-On that is so simple and amazing, I often wonder why Firefox hasn’t just built it in — Firefox Tab Groups.
This super groovy Add-On allows you to group tabs, in any manner you want. I typically have the following tabs running at any given time:
- Communication holds my email, Google Reader, Hoot Suite, and other places I regularly communicate.
- MRM holds all the tabs I have up when marketing this blog.
- IMPACT holds all the tabs I use when marketing the Impact Marketing Zone Blog.
- SM holds all the tabs I use when navigating my social media presence.
In addition, I also have a tab for each client that I’m working with or on for the day. Needless to say, Tab Groups has saved my Firefox workspace and my sanity.

Tab Groups Installation
Super easy.
- Access the Tab Groups page: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/9816
- Check the box “Let me install this experimental add-on” (Don’t worry experimental just means it’s new…)
- Click on “Add to Firefox”
- Follow the prompts
How to Use Tab Groups
Again, super easy. You can have as many Tab Groups as you want.
- Tab Groups are the top bar, Tabs within groups are on the second bar.
- To add a Tab Group –> click the green plus sign
- To rename any Tab Group, right-click it –> Rename –> Rename by Group Dialogue Box
- To add a Tab to a Tab Group –> create or click the Tab Group –> File (top-menu) –> Add New Tab
Give it a try and let me know what you think… I absolutely love simple tools like this that help me manage the chaos of marketing online.
… looking forward to connecting with you!
