The use of format and images, within your Wordpress posts and pages, can help your content be SEO and user friendly. Content that is formatted with the user in mind, will help your killer content present visually and in a way that encourages loyal readership. After all, there is nothing worse than looking at a white page with a sea of black text. Images, as well, will not only help the aesthetics of your content, but also provide SEO benefits if they are optimized. Let’s take a look at how to format and use images in your content.

Format for Users and SEO
Formatting your content has to do with the way you visually and structurally present your content to users and search engines. Content format can include your use of bold, italics, headings, sub-headings, numbered lists, bullet lists, and much more. The key is to leverage formatting to increase loyal readership, increase the aesthetic value of your content, and help you consistently take advantage of SEO benefits plugged into Wordpress.
Important Considerations When Formatting Content
Always use sub-headings for scan-able and SEO friendly content. Sub-headings (like the two above in red) help break up your content, creating a hierarchy within your content. When you format your sub-headings from the pre-formatted drop-down menu (using Heading 2 or Heading 3) you are creating valuable H-Tags like <h2> and <h3> which also help search engines understand your content.
Use keywords within your content structures. Use keywords in your post/page titles (which should place them in H-1 tags for SEO automatically). Use keywords in your sub-headings, which again places them in important H-Tags for SEO benefits. You also want to use keywords in your ALT and TITLE tags for images.
Use bold and other formats to emphasize keywords and content. Much like I have here, you’ll want to use bold, numbered lists, bullet lists and other formats to emphasize and structure your content layout. When done strategically, around keywords you also gain SEO benefits.
Images for Users and SEO
Images are a great way to not only bring aesthetic and design value to your content, but also to illustrate and emphasize content. As well, when images are optimized with keywords, they provide valuable SEO and traffic benefits with inclusion into universal search rankings.
Important Considerations When Using Images
Don’t overuse images. Too many images within posts (like spamming for SEO) is not only annoying to your audience, but also hinders your SEO efforts. Use images when relevant to the content and/or necessary for design or layout.
Optimize all images. Use the ALT and TITLE tags within the image menu to optimize your images with keywords relevant to your content.
Be descriptive and use captions. In addition to keywords, you’ll also want to make sure your ALT and TITLE tags in images are descriptive, to help inclusion within image rankings, as well as with your SEO.
