Social bookmarking has certainly transformed since it’s early days (circa 1996), into a definite necessity for everyone seriously participating in social media online. Social bookmarking builds quality, high PR links (when do follow), builds loyal communities around your expertise, and builds great human traffic (typically better with the heavily regulated and no follow sites). Whatever you share and however you use social bookmarking, if you’re serious about social media and traffic, get to know them well

These are the services that we’ve actually used/tested during our social bookmarking activities…
Post Toaster: Currently semi-automates social bookmarking to over 60 social bookmarking and social news sites. It’s alittle quirky when you first start using it, but does help speed up your social bookmarking once you get the hang of it. It’s one of the few that semi-automates the most sites.
Socializer: Currently semi-automates social bookmarking to 50 sites. Functions much like Post Toaster.
OnlyWire: Currently semi-automates to over 30 sites, but has a much more friendly user interface. You can sign-up for all your accounts in one easy place, and it’s one of the few that actually automates pretty much the entire process. Great for those new to social bookmarking.
Social Marker: Currently automates over 40 sites, with a friendly user interface — but still is semi-automatic. Another great one for those new to social bookmarking.

Holy Ga-moly.. I new of many of these and currently use OnlyWire but was not aware of all you list here. syn*det”ech (www.syndetech.com) is a new site just soft launched in mid Oct and we’re gaining ground in our niche market. We’ve seen a nice increase in traffic from our social bookmarking using OnlyWire as our tool and from your posting here, will branch out to more sites and try Post Toaster too.

I appreciate that. OnlyWire rocks, but I’ve fallen for SocialMarker and now am testing out the ShareThis plugin for Firefox.

This social bookmarking automation tools are really convenient to use. I’m currently using a video submission tool which also submits to social bookmarking sites automatically.
