Are You an Information Overlord or in Information Overload?

April 16, 2008 · Online Business

… I’d love to say you heard it hear first, but in his usual fashion, Jack Humphrey (one of my favorite internet marketers on the planet) has shared an “advance” notice of a site called Twine - a technology driven concept that is expected to turn the information overloaded into information overlords. Say what? Well, as Jack would put it, “Twine seeks to help us Overlords by finding the nuggets we miss and presenting them to us like a loyal dog looking for a scratch behind the ear and an “atta boy!”…

According to it’s own press, Twine is, ““Powered by semantic understanding, Twine automatically organizes information, learns about interests and makes recommendations. The more you use Twine, the better it gets to know you and the more useful it becomes.

In other words, the technology will grow and learn from you, your preferences, and your ideal information to help you sort and make some sense of it all. Because, let’s face it, there’s just too much stuff for any of us to really get it all.

The Diva Team has signed up for the Beta version of Twine and we will be testing its potential, not only for solopreneurs to fight information overload, but as a potential marketing tool. Of course, we’ll share our findings and give you the heads up!

To Your Online Success,

Maria Reyes-McDavis

    Hi Maria,
Speaking about coping with information overload, I’m using my own application - Context Organizer - to summarize my reading material. When at a click of a button I see the keywords and the most important sentences - that helps me to quickly decide how useful the information is. In my experience summarization helps with finding specific information in a sea of disparate content and is critical in quickly focusing on the most relevant information. If you were to try it out, I would greatly appreciate your feedback.
    Warm regards,
    Henry

    Hi Maria,

I recently started a blog which is devoted to the subject of information overload and how to deal with it (new technologies etc.)

Also, we will be launching a new Web 2.0 platform for alert services and reminders that will make it easier to deal with IO. Comments are always welcome! ;-)
